The Student Government Association (SGA) is the overarching organization on campus that provides all Washington College students an avenue with which to discuss issues and concerns with the Washington College Community. We play a key role in helping to shape policy and life at Washington College via off-campus relations, academic achievement, residential life, social life, diversity affairs, community service, and whatever else is pertinent. For more information on what you can do for the SGA and what the SGA can do for you, please visit http://sga.washcoll.edu/!
The Office of Students Activities has a variety of technical equipment that helps to enhance campus events, which range from sound and lighting equipment (speakers, microphones, etc.), to an outdoor inflatable movie screen (20' x 11') and projector. All equipment is free of charge for any Washington College club or organization that fills out the Office of Student Activities Technical Request Form.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Edward Hoegg, Office of Student Activities Program Production Intern Ed Hoegg (ehoegg2@washcoll.edu).
Just because there's no Student Center this year doesn't mean there isn't plenty of prime event realty all over campus! From Sassafras common rooms to the Toll Atrium, there are plenty of venues available for reserving. Fill out the Room Reservation Form a minimum of two weeks prior to the date of your event to reserve a space on campus. Once the form is completed, Laura Johnstone Wilson will respond to you within 2-3 business days of receiving your request to let you know if you have reserved the space.
The Student Events Board is a student run and staff advised organization. The SEB works to empower students to become better leaders by giving students an opportunity to join and work with the organization. The Student Events Board strives to create a vibrant campus environment through continuous event production, gauging student interests, and planning events that cater to all students on and off campus. Because the organization is for the students, the SEB attempts to encompass a wide range of social programming, including, but not limited to, large concerts, small concerts, parties, game nights, movie nights, sporting events, dances, carnivals, game shows, and comedians.
With that being said, the Student Events Board, well-versed in the art of event planning and advertising, is available for collaboration with any on-campus club, organization, or union, which may want it. Additionally, the SEB will cover half the price of movie rights if the club, organization, or union showing the outdoor film allows SEB to advertise on the inflatable screen before the movie begins.
Please visit the Student Events Board website for more information or email Jake Deal (jdeal2@washcoll.edu), President of the Student Events Board.
